This year I'm participating in a new 52 week photo project put on by the photography community, The Photographer Within. The theme for the year is 'A Year in Song'. Each week we'll be giving a line of lyrics to inspire our image of the week. Week 1 is Sting’s Brand New Day and the lyrics we’re shooting based off of are “Turn the clock to zero, honey. We're starting up a brand new day.”
Here's my interpretation of these lyrics - a sunrise shot with my Lensbaby Muse with double glass optic. I always love the dreamy effect the LB gives my images.
This blog topic is well-timed for me, as I just returned from an extended weekend with my family celebrating my younger daughter's 10th birthday in Las Vegas. Yes, Las Vegas. I know this is a strange choice for a child's birthday celebration but we were there for a specific reason. I surprised her with the birthday present of a lifetime - up front tickets to see her favorite artist, Selena Gomez! She and I went to the concert on our own (thanks to the ridiculously overpriced seats, though in retrospect it was worth every penny for the joy she got from it) and it was just the most fun time! She even got to touch her hand! The rest of the trip, the six of us spent as a family doing lots of fun things. We went and saw Chris Angel's magic show, Believe, which the boys really enjoyed, they bought and ate entirely too much candy, walked up and down the strip, held a monkey, played miniature golf KISS style, and played in our hotels fabulous selection of pools. Here's one of my favorite images of my family, heading in to play mini golf. We really had a great time and I'm thankful to call these people my family!

This week we focus on what we're thankful for. There is nothing in the world that I'm more thankful for than my children. They are the air I breathe and each holds my heart within them. I snuck into their rooms tonight to photograph them while they sleep, because let's face it, I'm extra thankful when they're peaceful like this! Below is an image of each of my twins. I'm not sharing the images of my girls because I think they'd kill me if I did that! To me, there are no faces sweeter than these. My babies.

This year all my kids went for spooky costumes so we did a little photo shoot:

This month I'm featuring images I took in the Mission District in San Francisco during the annual photo walk that Clickin Moms hosts. I used exclusively my Muse with double glass optic at 5.6 along with the occasional use of both macro converters. Here are my faves:
